We are always pleased to have new members join us whatever their knowledge or experience of sea fishing with juniors, ladies and seniors being especially welcome. New members need not feel too concerned when attending their first match as we are a friendly lot, no fanatics, just blokes who like to go fishing and all too willing to be welcoming and pass on advice and guidance. It is important to us that members enjoy both their fishing and Club membership.
The Club organises several league competitions, rovers and knock-outs with fishing matches being fished at week-ends, midweek and night/evenings (see fixture list) Many of these matches may be fished from Tynemouth Pier, lower level, thanks to the permission of The Port Of Tyne. Fishing from such a venue does provide a relatively safe and comfortable environment for members to enjoy their sport as well as gain valuable experience and knowledge. It is also an excellent platform to meet and get to know other Club members.
It is also now well established that the Club has a fishing week-end away twice a year - usually at Portpatrick, Scotland. Recently the Club has also been organising weekends away at Yetholm, near Wooler for members to experience pike and trout fishing. There is also an annual casting competition for members usually followed by a party.
In addition to the Club Rules - a copy of which is given to each member when they join - the Club has composed and adopted a "Code of Conduct" which we expect members to observe whenever and wherever they are fishing.
If you would like to join the Club or find out more about us, you can either attend one of our monthly meetings or pop along to Billy's Fishing Tackle shop in North Shields (Billy is the Club Chairman) Our monthly meetings are held the first Thursday of each month in the upstairs function room of The Northumberland Arms, West Allotment, with the meeting starting at around 7.30pm. This is a social event too and a small free buffet is usually provided.
Socially we are quite active and enjoy having fun! In the recent past members and their spouses/partners have enjoyed parties, babeques, discos. karaokes and pub crawls. It is a well known fact that in our ranks there are many members with a great love of a few beers!
Finally, several members have found themselves being bestowed with unique nicknames as recognition of either their "exploits", appearance, mannerisms or personality. Such banter has helped to build up the Club commerarderie!
Of course you don't have to live in Longbenton or Seaton Burn to become a member! So, if you would like to make some new friends, enhance your fishing experience and enjoy social opportunities too -
COME AND JOIN US - YOU WILL BE PLEASED YOU DID.
